The Power of Personal Projects (and how to actually get them done)
Cameras are tools that allow us to show the world what is in our hearts. Nikon Ambassador and award-winning photographer Kristi Odom will teach you how to incorporate the work that you love into your business, and build a profitable lifestyle that feeds your soul.
Kristi will talk about how her love for the natural world has fueled her own personal projects and raised tens of thousands of dollars for conservation. She will also share work from other photographers whose personal projects have bred acceptance, understanding, inner exploration, and outreach. From conceptualizing a project to fundraising, this class will give you the tools to get started shooting work that deeply inspires you and creates change.
Kristi Odom is a wedding and nature photographer based in DC, but feels most at home while exploring the world. From destination weddings in Thailand to conservation projects in the jungles of Borneo, she is dedicated to documenting the vast beauty in the world around us. Kristi has built her career by melding her personal passions with wedding photography, which in turn has created a business that is both profitable and rewarding. She loves to give back by sharing this approach with fellow photographers and encouraging them to do the same.
Kristi has spent the last couple years as a motivational speaker, presenting on stage for Nikon, WPPI, Fearless, the Georgia Institute of Technology, and others. Kristi’s accolades include her Master’s accreditation from WPPI and over 60 international photography awards including 2 Nature's Best Photography awards and 26 Fearless awards. Her work has been on exhibit many different places which include the Smithsonian Natural Museum of Natural History, Fearless, Rangefinder, Rollingstone.com, Outside Magazine, and even on a billboard in Times Square.
